Changes to Pūtahi Manawa Travel Grants

To help us manage the high number of applications and available funding, we’re moving to a set schedule for reviewing travel grant applications rather than assessing them as they come in.

We encourage you to apply as early as possible so you can plan ahead. You don’t need to wait until your conference abstract or presentation has been accepted before submitting your application.

From January 2027, travel grant applications will be reviewed every two months. We’ve set application deadlines based on your travel plans. Please make sure your application is submitted by the relevant deadline, as we won’t be able to accept late applications.

If you’ve submitted a conference abstract but haven’t yet heard whether it’s been accepted by the application deadline, please go ahead and apply anyway. In these cases, funding may be awarded conditionally, pending confirmation that your abstract has been accepted.

Pūtahi Manawa travel grants are designed to support Pūtahi Manawa researchers, collaborators and community partners to travel for purposes such as building relationships, gaining new research skills, forging research collaborations, and presenting their research.
